New head office for Retail Assist
Retail Assist, the UK's only independent provider of outsourced IT services dedicated solely to the retail industry, has announced its move to new corporate head offices in Nottingham.
The move is a response to the continued, rapid expansion of the Retail Assist business at a time when many larger, global IT organisations are reporting downturns in revenue.
The new offices, in Park Row, are located in the professional services district of the city. They will house Retail Assist's corporate teams, including sales, marketing, finance, human resources and project services which, together, represent a quarter of the company's head count. The purpose-built premises provide a quality venue for sales presentations as well as a contemporary working environment for staff.
Compass Point in Bingham near Nottingham, which has been home to Retail Assist since its establishment in 1999, will remain the company's support centre. In order to avoid disruption for key client-facing teams including technical services, help desk and store systems, these teams will continue to be based in Bingham, but now with more room for expansion.
Explains Alan Morris, Retail Assist's Managing Director, "Having secured two new major contracts in the past few months, the door was open for us to increase our headcount. But, with more than half of our staff based in Bingham, we realised that we had simply outgrown the space available to us. We looked at a number of options, but it made sense in terms of existing and future staff for us to continue to invest in the Midlands and to have a Nottingham-based head office."
Retail Assist now employs more than 80 staff, of which a number are based in the company's Northampton Data Centre and others work onsite within client premises including central London.
News of the new corporate offices follows an announcement of the company's recent reorganisation and its appointment of four new Directors. These changes resulted from a review of the Retail Assist business, conducted after the first five years of successful trading.
At that time, it was decided to put plans in place to scale and restructure the company and to bring in more experienced senior resource to help shape its future. The new Directors carry responsibility for Business Development, Client Services, Shared Services and Finance.
In addition to the recent Director appointments, Retail Assist has also appointed Ms Rae Hayward as Human Resources Manager to manage its ongoing recruitment drive.
