New machine housing facility launched

Retail Assist, one of the UK's leading suppliers of IT services to the retail industry, has launched a new machine housing facility following the expansion of its Data Centre at Northampton.

The expansion, which represents a significant investment by the company, will allow companies to outsource their machine housing and take advantage of the expertise of Retail Assist's team of operations staff thus reducing overheads through sheer economies of scale.

The launch of the new facility is yet another facet to Retail Assist's unique selective outsourcing capability that enables companies within the retail sector to take advantage of a range of services offered by Retail Assist on a "need to use" basis.

 Alan Morris, Business Development Director, Retail Assist commented: "Outsourcing is becoming more and more commonplace within the retail industry and indeed all industry sectors, but it is not always feasible to outsource an entire operation. With our selective outsourcing service, companies can take advantage of the particular elements of expertise to enhance their existing in-house operation."

Our new machine housing facility removes the burden of companies having to operate systems in-house and to employing specialist operations staff to deal with overnight schedules which are critical in the retail industry.

"We already have a team of staff in place, all with retail expertise, who can manage the systems thus reducing costs. Furthermore all disaster recovery plans are taken care of enabling businesses to comply with the Guidance on Internal Control and published by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales, commonly known as "TheTurnbull Report", which states that directors need to ensure the continuity of business by maintaining a sound system of internal control.

"Additionally, the flexibility of the service allows those companies wishing to continue to manage and control their other elements of IT, are free to do so."

The Retail Assist Data Centre in Northampton, which has doubled in size, employs 27 people in addition to the 30 employees at its Head Office in Nottingham.
