Selfridges outsources data management

Retail Information Technology outsourcing specialist, Retail Assist, today announces that Selfridges is the latest addition to its growing client base of leading fashion retail and department store brands. The company has secured a major outsourcing contract from Selfridges Retail Ltd, who now joins a client list that includes Principles, Warehouse, New Look, Adams Childrenswear, Thresher Group, Harvey Nichols, Oasis and Coast.

According to Sudhir Patel, Head of IT for Selfridges, Retail Assist won the business because of its retail sector expertise, its culture and the cost-savings that could be derived from a business of its size.

"From our earliest discussions, we felt very reassured by the Retail Assist team. It's clear that we'll be working with individuals who know fashion and department store technology inside out. We felt that the scale of the Retail Assist business and the close working culture that it clearly develops with its clients will give us a responsive and cost-effective service. Retail Assist will deliver a full range of Data Centre services to Selfridges, including:Machine housing; 24/365 Operations support; Network management; Oracle database administration and support; AIX operating system administration; and support.

The Selfridges IBM P-Series machine will be housed at Retail Assist's Northampton Data Centre.
