Retail Assist completes Adams IT re-vamp for mini mode range

Bingham, Notts - Retail Assist, the UK's only specialist retail IT services provider, has collaborated on behalf of Adams with Boots to advise on, develop and implement a specialist range of IT systems. The purpose of the systems is to support and maximise the success of the newly announced mini mode childrenswear range, a new brand developed by Adams and Boots and available exclusively through 260 Boots stores across UK and Ireland. The range has had far-reaching impact on Adams' IT systems with Adams' undertaking all merchandising functions - design, purchase, in-take management and replenishment - for the Boots estate.

The work carried out includes the development of a means for Adams to communicate information to Boots using daily file transfers on areas such as new product and product maintenance, stock movement and payment requests, as well as price changes for items already in store. Sales information will also be communicated from Boots back to Adams to aid replenishment.

Retail Assist has also made amendments to Adams existing merchandising and warehousing systems to enable them to accommodate mini mode, including the creation of a new In-season Merchandise Planning System; a new replenishment module to manage the amount of stock being sent to stores; and modifications to Adams' distribution centre to implement and use the new RF shipping process.

The Merchandising and Finance systems coding structures within Adams have been modified to allow both parties to carry out joint analysis of merchandise and store performance.

Alan Morris, Managing Director of Retail Assist, commented: "Retail Assist's long-standing relationship with Adams has enabled us to integrate their requirements seamlessly into their IT operations. Rather than merely implementing a purpose-built package at great additional expense, we have been committed to maximising the existing IT infrastructure of both companies."

Phil Davies, Director of IT at Adams added: "The mini mode project is a landmark development for Adams. The work of Retail Assist has made an important, positive impact on the project owing to their specialist skills, flexibility and in-depth understanding of both our industry and our business."

Ongoing support for the initiative is being provided by the Retail Assist team already in place at Adams.
